Purple power!

If you're driving along "millionaire's row" on Delaware Avenue this evening, you'll notice that our headquarters will be bathed in purple light. No, we didn't paint the Clement Mansion. We're "Going Violet to End Violence."

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Did you know...
  • A study of domestic violence survivors found that 74% of employed battered women were harassed by their partner while at work?
  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the U.S. has experienced physical violence, sexual assault and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime?
  • Homicide was the leading cause of on-the-job deaths for women?
In addition to these signs in our yard, the Clement Mansion
will "Go Violet to End Violence" with purple lighting tonight
Awareness and changing attitudes are key to addressing the problem of domestic violence. So we're doing our part during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we're not alone in showing our purple pride. Just down the street, Child & Family Services and the International Institute have also "gone violet".

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, the Family Justice Center is a great local resource for help. And if you simply want to see what the Clement Mansion looks like lit in purple, check out our Facebook page tomorrow for pictures.
