The not so serious side of emergency kit week, day 1!

Something that we need to remember about our emergency preparedness kits is that they shouldn’t be filled with just the necessities! Sure, we can’t last too long without food, water, and clean air, but we need to take our psyches into consideration.  Emergency preparedness kits should be customized to the person(s) that will be using them, which is why I thought it would be a fun idea to dedicate this week to see what people here at the Chapter keep in their kits that are not “just the basics.”
Louise Porter, our Prepared & Ready Coordinator, always makes sure that she has some sort of book, game, or puzzle packed in her emergency kit.  Especially cards! If you have a deck of cards, you’re sure to make some friends and have a good time, even during a disaster, especially if you’re lucky enough to be in a shelter.  And don’t forget a few pieces of candy.  The extra rush of sugar may be just what you need to get over a stressful part of your day.

We'd love to hear what you keep in your kit!! Feel free to comment below!
